I took this photo of a lovely blooming rose when I visited the garden of Michelle Dalzell a few English summers back. The little pigments in the petals indicate it is of an original line of pure-bred rose dating back in time.
I began making a slide show for her and her family, which was to feature several of her flowers, but I didn't want to keep adding "just another flower", so a few of them underwent an 'artsy' flare ;)

Location
This photo was taken in a lovely, quiet English garden in Durham, where my extended family then lived.Time
Afternoon, perhaps about 4 p.m.Lighting
Although natural outdoor lighting was available on the day, a digital touch brought up the colour and pigments in the rose, whilst darkening the background helped the flower to stand out.Equipment
My camera is my much-loved Nikon Coolpix L820, held in-hand (no tripod) and without the flash.Inspiration
I simply love photographing nature, especially if I can then put the subject into a digital art creation, (usually Fantasy theme, but also as E-cards etc.).Editing
This is fully post-processed, as it has been digitally manipulated. The original was slightly cropped, the background darkened (via exposure), the rose 'lifted' with bright/contrast, and given a soft outer glow.In my camera bag
Always my camera; a piece of paper (for those endless, brilliant ideas!), and the kitchen sink...Feedback
Let your creative 'eye' see the art first; then listen to it for when to 'click' ;-)
