Location
This magnificent bird is a Sea Eagle. I managed to captured this image when I visited Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park near Stirling, Scotland.Time
I took this image in the late afternoon, of April 2013. The birds feathers were all puffed up as it was a cold day.Lighting
The lighting was great. I love Nature daylight. There was no harsh light as it was a cloudy day.Equipment
This was shot on my first DSLR, a Canon 400D. at 200mm, f/7.1, 1/250sec, ISO 400. Hand held.Inspiration
I love taken birds of prey images. They are wonderful creatures. His eye was focused on me, he looked deep into my sole and held the gaze for what seemed like a lifetime. I almost forgot to click the shutter as I was so fixed on his beauty. The power that must be in that beak.Editing
Not much was done to this except the obvious change to monocolour. I just felt that every feather on the bird jumped out more when changed to black and white. In my camera bag
As I have got more into photography my bag has got slightly bigger. The most important thing in my bag nowadays is my pair of gloves, I never leave home without them. :) My main camera now is the Canon 5D mark iii. I don't really have a favourite lens, it really depends on what I am going to take pictures of, for what lens I will use. In my bag I keep a Canon 24-105mm 1:4 L, a prime Canon 50mm 1:4, a Canon 17-40mm 1:4 L, a Canon 70-200mm 2:8 L with Canon 1.4 Extender. So I am covered for most situations. I also keep a speedlight, Trigger Trap, rain covers, spare batteries and memory cards. But I do have another bag with various extras. I also usually have to bring my husband Brian with me to carry it all... :)Feedback
When photographing birds of any kind a long lens is essential, as if you are too close you will scare them away. Patience is the most important thing, you will need lots.
