This was my most difficult challenge for me. Your book and Chris Davis' book were the only two that are in my favorites. I actually didn't make the final decision. I turned to a friend of my who is the top photographer for Overstock. She agreed with me that both images are well done and it was difficult for her. What it came down to was emotion. What would you expect from a couple of women? I'm glad to see that this image has given you lots of awards!! Please don't be disappointed. Keep taking on my challenges. I really like your images!!

Location
I took this photo in my house on the dining table.Time
It was about 9 PM with the right kind of light coming from the south window.Lighting
I take natural photos, without any equipment. I made a setup on our dining table near the south window and waited until the light was nice, that was about 9 PM.Equipment
I didn't use any equipment other then my wonderful little Lumix DMC-TZ100, a very nice compact camera.Inspiration
The inspiration I had to take this photo came from a theme from a photography group I am part of, BOOKS. I am a book lover and have many old books to choose from. For the composition I kind of threw the book upside down a few times until it looked nice. Because books are somehow forgotten in this digital era, I think their value is changing and getting a deeper meaning. So I chose my composition in a way the light also came through the pages as if the story told was glowing up...Editing
I did very little post-processing, cropped it and adjusted the colors a bit in Lightroom, that's allIn my camera bag
I like to take natural photos so I do not have a bag with equipment.Feedback
When you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realize what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... In this case I wanted to capture the light through the words on the many pages of this old book. I chose for a dark background to make the pages of the book stand out and to have all focus on the book. Once I open my laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I always crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop and edit the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
