I had rescued this Redtail Hawk day before but discovered she wasn't hurt - just a young fledgling that hadn't learned to fly yet. Brought her back to rescue spot (in photo), played hawk calls on phone until both parents showed up. She called to parents & they returned the call and ... after she hopped close and watched me for 15 minutes, off she went to take her first flight from that railing. A wondrous moment !!Time
Good afternoon, clear day sunlight to show off her beautiful feathers.Lighting
The hawk's position dictated where I could stand. Afternoon, lower sun made for a good shot.Equipment
Used my trusty Nikon D90 to action of flight.Inspiration
Times to share space & attention with raptors are rare. I had overnighted this magnificent Retail Hawk and wanted to do document the experience as she flew back into nature.Editing
I generally increased contrast only. This image didn't need editing other than simple crop.In my camera bag
Nikon D90, 300 and 18-105 lensesFeedback
