Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a forest in the neighbourhood of Breda, the Netherlands.

Time

It was taken an hour or so before sunset.

Lighting

I wanted to capture the sun behind the dog in order to create a nice hairlight, so I took advantage of the warm evening light before sunset.

Equipment

I used a Sony A7SII, Sony 70-200 mm F2 G-lens, no tripod, flash or filters. Aperture F 2.8, Shutterspeed 1/200

Inspiration

I always search for new techniques and new angles in photography and this location gave me a great opportunity to try and make some back light pictures.

Editing

I took out some highlights and some shadows.

In my camera bag

At the moment I have a Sony A9, a wide angle 16-70 mm F4 lens, a 90mm macro lens and my pride and joy, the 70-200mm F2 G lens. I have a tripod and a big stopper for long exposure shots.

Feedback

Go out on a sunny day and wait until an hour or so before sunset.
