We were going through Nordegg to get some beautiful winter shots and found some abandoned buildings. Everything about this day trip was perfect, including the lighting. I explore and take photos because of my friend so there is always gratitude any time I click the shutter button.

Location
I took this photo when I was living out in Alberta, when my friends and I were still running around our province in high school. We went out to Nordegg for a little day trip through the abandoned buildings in the town.Time
Nordegg always had a special place in my heart. It was one of those places my family would go through just to be there. That being said, having my friends create our own memories there with a new set of successful photos became a notable moment. This photo was taken on March 3rd in 2017 at 1:41 PM, so plenty of snow on the ground and sun in the sky.Lighting
The lighting in this photo was all about being there at the right time. Considering it was mid day in the winter, we had a good amount of natural lighting for us to dance through the cracks of the aged wood.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Canon EOS 80D and a 50 mm f/8 lens, nothing more.Inspiration
Most of my photos are very candid, in the moment. There is no real plan when capturing the memories I do. I just like remembering the honest emotions from those in my photos, compared to a set up shot. There is something sacred in the unplanned, that is what inspired this photo.Editing
With this photo, I did not have to mess with it too much. The darks needed to be turned down, a little shadow, some fade, and a boost in the light. There was a glare in his glasses so I had to use the spot removal to make his eye look whole. In my camera bag
I only carry my camera with a 50mm lens and sometimes a wide angle. It would be nice to have a zoom lens to get some wildlife and bird captures but 50mm has made a fairly solid lens in the mean time.Feedback
Don't plan but calculate good angles as the moment unfolds. Bright natural lighting will create strong light rays through old wood give. Honestly, make sure the settings on your camera coordinate with the lighting in the room and take the photos as the moment feels right. Be as honest as you want your photos to be.
