This shooting was made using three Indonesian mantises (two male-female Pnigomantis medioconstricta and one female hierodula kalimanatan). The scene is obviously constructed. I made several attempts to understand how to handle the situation since these insects are very quarrelsome, in fact almost immediately one of the two small mantises gave a paw to the large one, bending an antella (arranged in post production). Finally, to avoid fighting, I slipped sheets of paper between the three mushrooms to create a separé and then I positioned the animals. When I was ready to shoot and the mantises were calm, I removed the sheets and had a few seconds to take some pictures. Because of the position they assumed in this shot and their fighting temper, I decided to call this photo Charlie's Angels :)
