Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photo in the local park by my home. The subject is my boyfriend. He had just got a new mask and I wanted to document what was going on in the world with Covid.
Time
This was shot in the evening right before sunset.
Lighting
I almost always shoot at golden hour because the light is so soft and even!
Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 24-70 2.8 L II
Inspiration
I wanted to capture the current reality of the world with Covid going on. Masks have become part of our daily lives. It’s another clothing item that we put on without a second thought nowadays and I wanted to capture this time because it’ll be history one day.
Editing
I edited it in Photoshop and Camera Raw. I use Jessica Drossin’s Photoshop tools for color grading.
In my camera bag
I carry a House of Flynn camera bag and in it, I carry my Canon 5D Mark III, my Canon 24-70 2.8 L II, my Canon 70-200 2.8 L II, and my Sigma 85 1.4
Feedback
Shoot at golden hour and make sure you shoot from above your subject to catch the light and expression in their eyes!
