Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a day visit to Taronga. one of Sydney’s beautiful zoos. The Gorillas have always been a favourite with their expressive faces and intelligent problem solving skills

Time

Taken in the morning around 10am on a very overcast day.

Lighting

The lighting was quite shaded and not a great deal of light in the area being photographed

Equipment

I used a Nikon D500 with a Nikon 70-200mmf2.8e Ed VR, hand held.

Inspiration

Gorillas have always been a favourite animal and to see the rapid decline in their numbers due to human interference makes me want to share these images to bring awareness to the problems this species faces

Editing

I shoot in Raw and use Lightroom to process the images.

In my camera bag

Depending on where and what I’m shooting I carry camera, usually 2 lenses mid rand and zoom if shooting wildlife or ultra wide, and mid range if shooting landscapes. Extra batteries is a must, memory cards , lens cloth and cleaner, tripod, remote for camera for long exposure shots,

Feedback

Patience, animals are unpredictable with their behaviours at times so playing the waiting game is always fun.
