Location
I live in downtown Vancouver in an area called the West End. A 5 minute from my apartment is English Bay where this image was taken.Time
This image was taken at 8:03pm. Sunsets in Vancouver are quite spectacular.Lighting
The light was very soft at this time in the evening which makes for a better photograph as you are starting to get shadows and silhouettes which you can use to enhance the photograph.Equipment
I was using my Canon Mark IID with a 250mm lenses. ISO was set at 800 and I was in manual mode.Inspiration
When I go out for my walks I take my iPhone and my canon camera with me in case I see photographic moments. I started taking images as I was walking over the Burrard Street bridge which leads in downtown Vancouver. As I was getting closer to home the light was just perfect and I came across the sculpture called the Engagement. I instantly knew I had to take a photo. The rings are located between two tall trees so it was easier to frame the shot with the rings taking Center place. Composition had it all an interesting sculpture, the bay in the background with people as silhouettes and the fading sun.Editing
For this image I used my editing tools to sharpen the image just a tad.In my camera bag
My two camera are my iPhone and the Canon Mark II D with a 250mm and a 50mm lens. As I enjoy taking images of jet fighters I am going to punching a 400mm telephoto and a long lens up to 800mm.Feedback
Honestly I just know it when I see it. Early morning and late afternoon to evening are my favourite times to capture images. I particularly love the colour of the light at this time of day. For me photography is about capturing a fleeting moment in time. Capture your moment.
