Behind The Lens

Location

On one of those winter days, when you don't see the sun the whole day, I was staying at home feeling a bit under the weather. I know, my room is long overdue for a renovation. But, I looked up and thought, Well, this does not have to look bad; it does look kinda cool, and unique; besides, it will not stay that way for very long. So, I did take a few pictures, and this one I liked the most.

Time

As I remember, it was a mid-day, about 2 PM.

Lighting

Just the natural light from the window.

Equipment

This was shot with a NIKON D750 and a NIKKOR 24-120, on a tripod.

Inspiration

I am fascinated by an idea of turning something generally considered as a flaw, bad or unwanted into an art.

Editing

Id did quite minimal post processing; basically just a bit of brightening and slight color correction.

In my camera bag

I go out very light: one camera, one zoom lens, which at the moment is very wide, a couple of very good filters and a small, light tripod.

Feedback

I see this picture as an example of going against stereotypes. Most pictures of an old peeling paint I have seen, express a feeling of dourness, gloom, and look grim, dismal and dreary. Here, with bright cheerful colors, the emotion is just the opposite, which creates a surprising contrast, I believe.
