Location
The photo was taken at Hluhluwe game reserve. Northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.Time
We were on an early morning game drive when a pair of bee eaters caught my eye. After watching them for a while I realised they were feeding their chicks, unfortunately not within view.Lighting
Important to catch these guys at the right time of day. This female is well lit and even the bee is pretty clear.Equipment
The photo was shot from the vehicle using a window bean bag to stabilise the 100-400 mm Canon lense.Inspiration
Bird photography is something I always wanted to pursue. We didn't intend to take pictures of birds that morning as we were on a game drive, but very pleased with the result.Editing
I'm not big on post processing. Called in the assistance of a friend, Arlene Mullins to help me with this one.In my camera bag
I normally have a Canon 70-200 and a nifty fifty in the bag. For the game drive I had a 100-400. I shoot with a 7d Markii.Feedback
Right time, right place. Also took a nic pic of the bird in flight, but it was not as sharp as this one.
