I shot this photo in my studio in Gilze (the netherlands) it was the very last photo of the shoot.Time
I do not think is relevant for a studio photo but is was late in the afternoon.Lighting
This was done with a three lights setup. 2 strobes with large sofboxes at a small distance so there was much evenly lightspread by bouncing the light around in the studio. so the model and red backdrop got lighted bij direct and indirect light. The red spot on the backdrop was done with a projection spotlight with a out of focus gobo and red gel. the spotlight was placed high left so the light streaked on the backdropEquipment
The camera was a canon eos 6d with a 85 / f1.8 canon prime lens 2 elinchrom elc 500 pro stobes and a hensel 3500 projection spotlightInspiration
the inspiration came bij the African outfit and strong facial features of the model. in a photo like this the pose comes very precise. the hight of her chin and the placement of the fingers so the triangles were the backdrop in visible between tho body and chin has to be in balance.Editing
First i had to do the raw processing and finetune the exposure and and other basic adjustments i enhansed the skin.In my camera bag
I mainly shoot in my studio were i use a canon eos 6d, canon 85/ f1.8, canon 50/1.4, canon 70-200/ f2.8. and the usual studio gear as stobes, light modifiers, backdrops etc. those are only tools you use to create an image like a carpenter use a hammer and nails. but al those are not the most important things in a studio. The most important are the many small things that you can use to create a photo like props, fabrics, arts and crafts materials, home depot materials. With those materials you can create a picture.Feedback
By posing a model to do create a similar picture, precision is the most important. A few mm. in her pose can make a great diffidence becouce it all has to do with balance. By creating a similar streak of light on the backdrop you can also use a snoot with a gel.
