Behind The Lens
Location
In Fort Walton Beach, FL there is a bird rookery on Okaloosa Island. The area hosts many types of birds: herons, snowy white egret, cattle egret, kingfisher, green heron, try-color heron, comerants, sea gulls, red-wing blackbirds, warblers, cardinals, osprey, owls, and hawks to name a few.Time
The actual picture was probably taken in late morning, about 11 am.Lighting
While the lighting suggests either a sunrise or sunset, in truth I played around with Skylum's Luminar 4 feature of sky replacement. The sky is from another of my photographs taken across the street on the Okaloosa Island Pier in Fort Walton Beach, FL.Equipment
My equipment is the Nikon Z7II. This was taken with my Z7. My lens is a Sigma 150-600mm with a 1.4 teleconverter attached. The camera and lens total weight is low enough to be able to hand hold the equipment while shooting.Inspiration
I was in an area where there are many types of birds. Since I haven't seen this particular species in the area, I wanted to be sure to capture it.Editing
My usual workflow involves importing photos into Lightroom Classic CC, making initial adjustments to shadows, exposure, vibrance, etc. I then use Photoshop where I can make additional edits to include using Topaz Sharpen AI, Topaz Denoise AI, Topaz Gigapixel, and Luminar 4. For me, this is the most efficient workflow as I'm able to go back to Lightroom easily where I can export my finished products. In my camera bag
My bag is pretty full with NIKKOR's Z50mm 1.8, 50mm Macro, 85mm 1.8, 14-30mm 4.0, 24-200mm 4.0, Lensbaby 35mmFeedback
