I needed a photo that I could use for profile pictures and a possible future business card. With no one around to take a photo of me, I took the opportunity to take a self portrait.

This photo was taken in my bathroom mirror! I hung a black curtain up over the shower rod and put a ring light on the counter so all the light wasn't coming from above.Time
I have no idea what time of day it was. I only used indoor light for it.Lighting
The ring light made a big difference on the horrible bathroom lighting. You know, that lighting that comes from up high so it accentuates all the lines, wrinkles...Equipment
You can sort of see it... Nikon D750, Nikon 35mm 1.8 lens (I no longer own this one). Hand held with ring light for lighting. My settings were ISO 5000, f/4, 1/125 (I was given a tip that this lens isn't really sharp until f/4)Inspiration
I wanted a photo for business cards, profile photos... etc, of what THE SUBJECT will see. I knew that this was what I wanted and thought about asking my photographer friend to take some for me, but I'm glad I did this. It took all of maybe 5 minutes and it was exactly what I was looking for.Editing
I did very little post-processing besides going to Photoshop to clone some of the black because the curtain I used for a back drop was too short. Other than that I did the normal "lens correction", highlight and shadows and upped clarity just a touch in Lightroom. I did my hair and makeup for the phots so I didn't have to do any touch ups... I'm so glad I did... this camera is a little too honest! ;)In my camera bag
My go to camera is my D750. I started out with a D3300 and quickly upgraded. (I plan to buy a D7500 or so for a back up someday). For portraits and candids I grab my Tamron 70-200mm G2 or my Tamron 45mm 1.8 For fun and for a certain look I grab my manual lenses- Nikon Nikkor 55mm 3.5 or Nikon Nikkor 180mm 2.8 ED.Feedback
My biggest advice every time will be to correctly expose if you're using a high ISO. This tip was given to me when I was working with my D3300 and it has made such a huge difference in the amount of noise I got at a high ISO! I have zero fear of using high ISO.
