Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my kitchen. Weekend project for myself and my daughters art work

Time

Midday my daughter wanted some portrait for her art project. So turned it into a project for myself too

Lighting

For the lighting I put a foldable white screen to the right and bounced the flash of it.

Equipment

This shot was taken on a nikon d3300 with a 50mm prime lense from what I can remember. No tripod as I was moving about to get the right angle the flash was a speedlight bounced off a large pop up white screen

Inspiration

My daughter inspired me to do this as it was also her idea. And she has very photographic features

Editing

A bit of post processing was done in lightroom. Not sure exactly what was tinkered with as I normally don't have any rule as such. The eyes were enhanced slightly and blue saturation added along with luminosity and the iris enhance brush

In my camera bag

I don't carry a lot of equipment around with me other than my trusty 35mm prime and a polarising filter and a 10stop nd filter and a manfroto tripod. Everything else I put down to luck

Feedback

If I have any worthwhile advice I would say just experiment with how the light catches the subject. Try outdoors indoors with a flash without. Bounce light from your flash of the ceiling or from the side, flash straight on can be a bit harsh and doesn't give a natural look, also use a flash diffuser and most importantly be confident and take lots of photos and experiment get creative. Lots of shots will be less than perfect but that how you learn
