Sunset is one of my favorite times of day and sunsets in Tanzania are simply spectacular. We had gotten back to camp and while people were showering I continued to walk around and found this tree with Vultures. I was beginning to hear hyena and hurried back to camp!Lighting
Silhouettes can be tricky. But they offer rewarding challenges like this evening did.Equipment
I used a Sony Rx10iv. I was also shooting with my Sony 7Riii but the Rx10 is lighter!Inspiration
I was so in love with Tanzania and I couldn't let the day go yet. I wanted to take some sunset photos and happened upon this tree. I love a good action shot. I was photographing the vultures when one decided to take off so it tells a story rather than just two birds sitting in a tree.Editing
Very little. Usually only the basic panel with clarity or dehaze in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I shoot with Sony exclusively now. I love the Rx10IV bridge camera because the built-in lens goes from 24-600. It may only be 20mp but it packs a wallop! for this trip I also brought my Sony 7Riii with a 200-600mm lens. Normally this is what I carry unless I am snorkelling and need a housing. Then I use the 16-35mm lens underwater. I was not happy with the 7Riii for one reason, however. The exposure compensation dial was easy to hit and oftentimes I would miss a shot because I forgot to check it in the heat of the moment. The 7Riv has fixed this issue and I use it primarily now and the 7Riii for underwater.Feedback
Patience. Composition. Look through the viewfinder. What looks good to your eye? Will you have to crop an image? Do you want it slightly askew? Centered photos can be boring but I tend to try not to center a shot every time. If I don't like it, I can crop it in slightly but I think it makes for a better photo.
