The organ was initially manufactured in 1493 by Daneel Vander Distelen from Leuven. He was the son of the Leuven master organ maker of the same name. This organ is the oldest known to date in the Netherlands. The organ case is composed of oak wood. The organ has been adapted and repaired several times over the years. Between 1671 and 1673 it was extensively converted into a baroque instrument by Jan Deeckens [3] from Haacht. In 1870 Charles Anneessens (from Geraardsbergen) converted the device once again, this time into a romantic instrument. Thanks to a donation offered by the Raffinerie Tirlemontoise that celebrated its 150th anniversary, the church factory was able to have the instrument restored in 1986.
