Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the village Mijas, in southern Spain.

Time

The image was taken around 11:00 AM, on a warm summer day.

Lighting

I was struck by how bright the whitewashed buildings were against the blue sky.

Equipment

I used an FM Nikon camera with a Nikon lens.

Inspiration

The starkness of the street. And the mother and child walking away from the Camera, after their morning shopping.

Editing

Nothing special. I started by exposing the image in strips on the paper, starting with a few seconds and increasing in 2 second increments. At the same time adjusting the color, until I achieved the right combination of magenta, cyan and yellow. Once I got the right exposure and color I printed the photograph.

In my camera bag

2 Nikon camera lenses for both, and a tripod.

Feedback

I was once told by Pirkle Jones from San Francisco, to always crop within the view finder of the camera. Look in all four corners and edges before snapping the photograph. I have found that advice to be instrumental.
