Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the Redondo Pier in Redondo Beach California. I was taking a walk in the early afternoon looking for interesting things to shoot. This fellow certainly captured my attention!

Time

Early afternoon. Around 12 or so.

Lighting

This was taken on a bright sunny day with no clouds whatsoever in the sky.

Equipment

I don't remember if this was taken with my old CanonRebelXT or my old CanonPower shot. No flash, tripod, or special lens necessary. Just a handheld shot.

Inspiration

I just love nature and all that it brings. I moved to California from Chicago, so I was fascinated by the great Pacific and spent lots of time there observing the wildlife. I was super excited to catch this fellow sunbathing on a roof of one of the shops on the pier. Photography is one of my hobbies. I'm never looking to go into the realm of "professionalism". It's all about capturing moments that capture ME! My inspiration can come spontaneously and I just go with it. If you just take a look around you there's almost always something to capture...

Editing

Just a crop and a change from color too black and white. The bright blue of the sky and the sun was beautiful but I wanted to focus on the star of the show which is this fellow with his skinny legs and knobby knees!

In my camera bag

I usually have my old Canon Rebel XT hanging around my neck whenever I'm out and about. It's the only camera I own now. I have my 50mm attached and carry an extra 24mm for landscapes or wider shots.

Feedback

Just pay attention to what's around you at any given time. Never know what you'll see!
