This photo of Robin was taken on our farm in Northern Michigan.Time
This particular shot of our alpaca, Robin, was take. In the afternoon.Lighting
She is very dark and can be difficult to photograph and get detail in her fleece. So I wanted to try e afternoon sun on her.Equipment
This was shot with my Nikon D3x and my Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 lensInspiration
Robin was one of our new crias and I wanted to get some good shots of her for our farm website and to show other alpaca farms.Editing
I don’t really do a lot of post processing work on my images. I’ll spend a few minutes on it to spruce it up a bit but that’s about it.In my camera bag
My bag has my Nikon D3x and D3 with an assortment of lenses from a 14mm f/2.8 all the way up to my 80-200mm f/2.8. I also have a flash, some filters like a polarizing filter, extra batteries for the camera and flash and of course some snacks :)Feedback
The best advice I could give is to probably use a long zoom lens. These animals are curious but still skidish. So I usually just grab a patch of grass somewhere in the pasture and just let them get used to me being there and enjoy viewing these beautiful and gentle animals.
