This photo was taken over my daughter’s house. Since she lives where farm land is all around her home and people think they can drop off their unwanted animals to either die or to find mice and birds to live on. The strays find their way to my daughters place where she would feed them and take them to the vets to be fixed before she finds a home for them. Since I like taken pictures of animals I went to her place to take pictures of this little guy and other kittens that were there that day. Taking pictures of animals are to me challenging because you cannot pose them to sit still you and your camera have to be ready at all times to get that perfect or cutest shot.Time
I was taking care of my daughters animals that day while she was away. When I went outside before I fed them I noticed the kittens were playing so I grabbed my camera and laid on my belly in the driveway not to interrupt their playing too much. I took a couple shots right away as this little guy looked up at me wondering what I was doing before he went back to play. Time of day was around 9:15 am August 23, 2016.Lighting
Since it was morning and the sun rises on this side of the house I didn’t want the sun to blind out the photo nor did I want there to be a lot of shadows on the ground. So fortunately the kittens were playing beside the front wheel on the drivers side which was also facing the house. I was able to lay down at the back of the car far away not to interrupt them to much.Equipment
This was shot with my Sony SLT -A65v, lens DT 18-270 mm, F3.5-6.3, Aperture f/6.3 focal length 280, ISO 640. No flash or tripod was used.Inspiration
I like taking photos of animals it’s much more challenging to me as you cannot pose them. Taking pictures of them moving or playing, hunting, and sleeping I find makes a better story because you are getting them in their natural habitat. It’s a great way to study animals and their behavior also.Editing
In this photo I may have adjusted the raw photo shadows, size of the photo and adjust the white balance some.In my camera bag
Since I’m still an amature the only equipment I have in my bag is the Sony A65 body along with the tamron lens 18-270. I like shooting with this lens because it gives me the wide range of shooting at 18 mm to 270mm without changing the lens.Feedback
Always be patience and ready when shooting animals. You cannot hurry shots nor can you pose them. If you miss that shot you thought would of been good don’t get mad at yourself or them. I always find to get down on their level shoot with a telephonic lens as some animals you do not want to get that close to. Example, bears, lions, etc. Also, shoot with a fast lens and fast shutter speed etc.
