On the Big Island the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park has a wonderful sandy beach which is a prime location to photograph the endangered green sea turtles of Hawaii. For this shot I was on an incline trying to keep my camera above the sand as this turtle came out of the sea and looked at me. Beautiful moment.

I live on the Big Island and am very familiar with the beach you speak of and you are correct, I have seen as many as 23 individual turtles there. It is one of my regular places to photograph birds
