I was at The Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans Louisiana. It is one of my absolute favorite places to go!Time
It was about midday when I took the picture. We were inside so unfortunately there was no natural light.Lighting
I really focused on the aquarium light to capture this picture.Equipment
I ended up using my iPhone 8plus for this photo. My camera battery had just died and I didn’t have my spare with me.Inspiration
I truly think that this fish stopped and posed for me. I was still kicking myself for not having my spare battery and it’s like this little one knew. It was like he was saying “just use your phone silly”. It’s my phone background and lock screen to this day.Editing
Since this was taken using my phone, I just used the built in edit function. I brightened the image slightly and upped the warmth and saturation enough to bring out the vibrant colors. I also upped the exposure and contrast as well to really make everything pop.In my camera bag
I normally have my camera, my 18-55mm lens, my MacBook Air, my usb cable, and my two batteries. I love being able to edit photos on the go so I make sure I always carry my computer with me.Feedback
Be flexible. You can’t always create the perfect shot. Sometimes they just happen and you always need to be ready to capture it; like this particular photo. Remember the shot doesn’t always come to you, sometimes you have to put yourself in some slightly hairy spots to get the shot your looking for. Even though you may have to get a little dirty to get the right shot those are usually the ones you cherish more than any other.
