This tree is a paperbark satinash, found in the rainforest of tropical North Queensland. On a recent drive up the highway then up to Mount Spec National Park, I bumped into this red beauty in a sea of green. To be honest I've lived up here for quite a time and this is my first encounter...amazing what you discover when you head off the beaten track! Apparently the tree blooms a pink or purple flower followed by deep purple berries, edible so I believe. The root system is incredible!
