I took this photo in my makeshift home studio.Time
I usually rely on natural light for portraits. This shoot took place in the afternoon, but unfortunately it was really cloudy and overcast that day so we were worried we wouldn’t get enough light! Fortunately, the skies cleared a little bit and the clouds really gave a nice cool tone to the images.Lighting

I found this beautiful iridescent curtain in my closet and I instantly knew it was going to create beautiful shimmering reflections in frame, almost like a waterfall. My amazing model Sophana was equally thrilled about the curtain and really brought the idea to life!Editing
I did lots of tonal edits and color changes in Lightroom to achieve rich, vibrant hues. I also added the starburst glare effects in Photoshop.In my camera bag
I like to keep it light. My camera bag is never without my Canon 50mm 1.8 prime lens, which I use for all my portraits! My Canon EOS SL2 body has never let me down. That’s usually all I pack, save for a snack!Feedback
Using iridescent material is really easy and fun! Play around with different angles and positions of the material to reflect light in a variety of ways. The curtain I used had several strands which really created a lot of movement, which is another thing to strive for! I’d totally recommend giving it a try.
