This photo was taken in my kitchen. There is a sliding glass door to the deck that every so often gets decent sunlight.Time
We'd just gotten back from church and the light was coming in through the sliding glass door just right so I ambushed my daughter as she was gazing out into the back yard. Mid afternoon.Lighting
My house is magically situated in a perfect spot to almost never get decent light through that glass door. So when I see it, I hope someone is standing in it.Equipment
This was taken on a Canon RP, using the EF 85mm f/1.8 USM. Natural light. Post processing in Lightroom.Inspiration
All the elements just came together in that moment. Good light, distracted but mostly stationary daughter. When you get those moments - and manage to get to your camera before they pass - you get blessed to freeze the memory in something more reliable than my old brain.Editing
Used Lightroom to brighten things a bit and drop the color. I'm really just at a stage where I'm ham-fisted flailing around with settings and sometimes I get lucky. Lots more to learn. In my camera bag
My bag is simple. EOS RP is my current camera. I'm a budget amateur and am really loving the RP. Also keep an 85mm, 50mm from Canon along with Sigma 70mm macro Art, and 15-70 Sigma in my bag. Sometimes throw in a couple Lume Cubes.Feedback
I'm hardly at a level to be giving advice as a photographer, but as an amateur: keep the camera close, keep your eyes open and grab the happy and seemingly random moments as if they were gold.
