Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Morraine Lake on the second last day before the road was closed for the winter. The water was so brilliant you'd never have known it was frozen unless you saw the people skating on it

Time

This was taken in the middle of the day. There were tons of people around and I was lucky enough to spot this angle through the trees to get a shot of just a few of them.

Lighting

Natural light on a not particularly sunny day

Equipment

For this photo I shot it with my Nikon D750 and my Sigma 35mm, no other equipment was used

Inspiration

I was fortunate enough to even get into this beautiful place, it's so popular it's difficult to get there now. I wanted to capture the uniqueness of the brilliant colours and frozen water. I was so neat to see people out on the ice even though I wasn't brave enough to go out on it myself.

Editing

I did basic edits in lightroom, but nothing major

In my camera bag

I typically have at least one camera, sometimes two. I shoot Nikon so I will have my D750 or D850 with me most of the time. I try to plan ahead and pick the lenses I will need, so in this circumstance a wider lens (my 35mm), although I tend to keep my Nikkor 50mm handy most of the time too.

Feedback

Look for the angle that everyone else isn't blocking. People tend to gravitate towards the classic angles, think outside the box
