Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my studio here in Brazil. It was a job I did with an incredible team!

Time

I should shoot according to the client's guidelines. Between requests, I had to have a beauty photo of the model using the accessories. It wasn't very difficult to get the result I wanted because the model understood the concept well and the light was positioned to create diffuse shadows.

Lighting

I used a large octosoft, with a butterfly diffuser on the front. A black flag blocking the light so as not to illuminate the background too much.

Equipment

Canon 5D MarkIII, Canon 24-70 2.8f II L , Profoto Flash D1

Inspiration

I have been studying a lot about how light behaves. I have been dedicated to creating photos that impact. Each new job is a challenge because I need to convey emotion through photography. This emotion is knowing how to control light and shadow. It is a great challenge that I love.

Editing

Yes! I am not much in favor of heavy touch-ups. I try to get the photo out of the camera as close to the final result. I don't take the photo thinking that Photoshop can solve something. I do the photo and photoshop is just to improve, not to fix something that I was not able to do during the session. This photo only corrects some pimples that the midelo has. She had very good skin, so I had no problems. Dodge and Burn to bring out contrasts and light. Only that.

In my camera bag

Canon 5DmarkIII. I don't see the need to follow all the industry's releases. My camera suits me perfectly and I have been dedicating myself to buying good lights and good accessories right now. Maybe next year I'll buy another camera. I use 24-70 for almost everything I do. But I also love the 85mm. After I started using profoto, I can no longer live without them. I always take mine to sessions. They are war tanks and never fail.

Feedback

Always try! Study, see many photos published in fashion magazines. Follow photographers who are working for these magazines. Try to see behind the scenes of these photographers on youtube and try to have the same result. You will learn a lot from this. I love diffused light and have been studying a lot about it. Use light in a non-traditional way and try new techniques. So you will develop your style.
