Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Lumsdale Mills in Matlock, I love exploring the old ruins and landscapes in the UK, beacuse not only is there great photo potential, but there is also a lot of history to be found!

Time

We commuted for around three hours to get this shot, and it was worth it! We arrived at Matlock around 11:00 and I shot most of my images around 1pm to 2pm.

Lighting

When I took this image the sun was shining down from above the trees, leaving shadows under the waterfall, adding to the drama of the scene.

Equipment

I shot this image with a Canon EOS M5 + 18-150mm f3.5 and a Jessop tripod.

Inspiration

I love seeing peoples compositions of water. There has always been something so interesting about the way the water flows over the rocks, carving out the banks around it!

Editing

i did a little bit of post processing in Adobe Lightroom with saturation and vibrance, as well as some lighting and lens corrections. I try not to go too crazy with post processing, as I believe if ilI stray too far from the raw image on my camera it's no longer the same image!

In my camera bag

I generally only use my Canon EOS M5 with my 18-150mm lens! (With the reason being its my only camera...)

Feedback

Find what speaks to you, a good photo is a photo that you love because its unique, and because of the story behind it, not a photo that has been captured hundreds of times. My tip to all of you, explore! Dont be afraid to leave the path, you may find what your looking for!
