Behind The Lens

Location

On my first ever assistant job at Leeds Olympic training pool.

Time

After a two hours drive, we arrived around 10am. We had a look at the venue and scouted the locations. An hour later the diver arrived and we started filming the interview that followed with the warm-up Then the real deal started to capture the perfect dive.

Lighting

I couldn’t use flash for obvious reasons. Although it looked pretty bright. I had to crank up the ISO pretty high to compensate the shutter speed

Equipment

My good old Canon 7D Mark ii with the 70-200 mm lens.

Inspiration

I was assisting and stood in a slight different angle as the photographer. It was my goal to capture the perfect angle of takeoff and splash

Editing

There was quite a lot of noise (grain) and brought that down in Lightroom. Turned in to monochrome and gave it a different crop

In my camera bag

Canon 7D Mark ii Canon R6 2x speed lights Several lenses.

Feedback

Don’t give up and be pleased too easy. Keep trying to capture that perfect moment
