Behind The Lens

Location

This shoot was taken in a field in a trip I made with friends to the countryside of Portugal.

Time

This was taken on May 12, 2007, at 4:35:31 PM, the light on this flower was perfect so I couldn't miss the opportunity.

Lighting

I really wanted to highlight the beauty of this flower and take advantage of the light that was illuminating it so I moved around a bit to choose the perfect background but not forgetting the light, it wasn't a direct light which was good because it was a very sunny day but it wasn't enough to emphasize the flower, so I used my flash with a very weak light.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon EOS 400D, with an EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens and the flash of the camera

Inspiration

The beauty of this flower so alone in the field and the way light was illuminating it got my attention and then and most important, the peculiarity of this flower, different from the comum flowers with all its "thorns" bursting in the air!!

Editing

Usually all photo need a bit of processing, just to tweak minor defects of improve others, in my case I normally work on white balance, levels, contrast and saturation.

In my camera bag

I always have been trying to evolve my gear, so I started with an Sony Cybershot DSC-P100 and then I bought to a Canon EOS 400D adnd finally I got a Canon EOS 30D which is my current one. In this process I got some lenses too, they are: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM and I also have a tripod, a MTL 9251B Giottos.
