Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the studio during a model sharing with other photographer friends

Time

It was around 9.30 pm on 22 October 2015 when I told the model to move freely and slowly as she wanted. I also asked him to mention dance movements. I tried to capture the moment that I liked.

Lighting

To take this photo I used the pilot light of a soft box positioned on the right side of the model positioned in front of a completely black background

Equipment

For this photo I used my Nikon D4S equipped with Nikon 105mm lens. ISO 500; f / 4.5; Time 1/60; spot on the clear part of the face. As I said, fixed pilot light of a flash. Freehand shooting.

Inspiration

The beauty of the features, the color of the eyes and the bearing of the model led me to take this photo. I asked Eleonora to move slowly as if she was dancing and that I would give him the "stop" at the moment of the shot. And so it was.

Editing

No post processing. The only exception is the white balance adjustment on the raw file and a slight lightening of the shadows.

In my camera bag

To date my equipment includes: Nikon D850 and D5 with the triad of Nikon 14-24 lenses; 24-70 and 70-200 (all f 2.8). To these are added the 105micro, the 85mm (f.1.4) and the fish eye Sigma.

Feedback

My thought when shooting with a model is to understand the person in front of you and try to bring out the best in the individual subject. If you have a sophisticated woman there is no point in trying to make him do something funny and cheeky. And viceversa. The photographer must emotionally bond with the model and understand which best sides to photograph based on the subject's characteristics.
