Behind The Lens

Location

St Aldhelm's Chapel, Worth Matravers which over looks the English Channel on the Dorset Coast line.

Time

The photo was taken about 3 am or in my terms silly o'clock in the morning.

Lighting

No additional lighting with the exception of the torch which my daughter is pointing to the sky.

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS R set up on a tripod. The lens is a Sigma 14-24mm F2.8.

Inspiration

Looking for a different location to visit I stumbled on the cove which is about 1.5 mile away where on google maps. Wanting to find a area with little light pollustion i desided to re-viset and got some reasonable shots with my Canon 80D. But wanted to see the differance the EOS R was l returned to take this picture.

Editing

Post editing was canons DPP where I adjusted the lighting to bring out the milky way. Also in another program I added my logo.

In my camera bag

Typically I take out my 80D with a general purpose lens 18-105 F4 I think and sigma 18-35 F1.8 this is due to a limited lens selection for my EOS R which I have the Sigma 14-24 F2.8 and the RF 35 F1.8. I have also a EF 75-300 hidden away in a pocket just in case. But if I'm just walking around town I'll just have the 1 lens on the camera.

Feedback

Try and find a place where there is little light pollution. Be prepared you might have to revisit the location. You can read up on what others do but and use there experiance as a strting point and experment. Its not like to good old days where you spent £££ on the film and only had 24 or 36 chances. You are only limited to your batery and memory card now and finding a subject to focus on. I still might return to the same loction as my equipment grows and experiance.
