Location
I took this photo in our family home’s basement. We set up a white sheet and got props set up and went to town. I remember it was snowing outside.Time
The sun was setting, so early evening. It was cold and snowing but we had bought all of these props for this shoot, so we went ahead with it.Lighting
I had this idea where we could put fairy/decorative lights in a lantern so it was glowing. She did her makeup to look like a fairy, and the lantern turned out way better than expected. I was worried it wouldn’t be bright enough.Equipment
I used my Canon Rebel T3 with a 50mm 1.8 lens. No tripod, no other lighting. Just my camera and some ideas.Inspiration
I usually shoot portraits and nature, so I wanted to branch out a little bit with some more props and concepts. I love the fairy/garden look, and my sister is into cosmetology, so with her makeup and my ideas, this came about.Editing
Yes. These photos were shot in very low light, so I was worried about the graininess of the photos. I shot RAW and used Lightroom Mobile to edit. RAW helped a lot in this situation since we had such little light. In my camera bag
Too much. I have my camera body, 4 lenses, a mini tripod, lens caps, batteries, SD cards, and backdrop clamps just to name a few.Feedback
Be creative! Art can never be wrong, and it’s always fun to try something new. If it’s low light, I’d say shoot RAW for easier post processing. But most importantly, just have fun with it.
