Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was snapped in a series of photographs while on assignment in the Blue Mountains NSW after the devastating fires that consumed National Parks and peoples homes.

Time

It was around 12pm in the day which allowed for multiple natural lighting angles on various subjects

Lighting

Being in an open environment and the middle of the day natural lighting was bountiful.

Equipment

Shot on my trusty Nikon D500 Aperture 50/10?ISO 320?Shutter 10/5000?Focal Length 1450/10

Inspiration

I was on assignment for a national media company, this image just presented the devastation fire brought to a well known location. The lines and charcoal colouring on what was once a bronzed sandstone face and charred trees.

Editing

I felt no real touch up was required to focus on the subject I wanted others to see what I was seeing. A simple sharpen and detail enhance I believe is the best way to not over do an edit.

In my camera bag

I dont have a bag lol. I have a boot full of gear, from tripods to lighting, camera's include Nikon's, Canon and Sony. Of course like most I have various lenses to ensure the scene is maximised with the right glass for the right camera. My favourite in my boot of goodies is my Nikon D500 with 70-300 lens, followed closely by my Parrot ANAFI UAV (Drone). Any excuse to get into the air for that extra prospective.

Feedback

Best advice I can pass on is 1/. NEVER RUSH your shot. 2/. Look for the best light with the right angle 3/. Do NOT be afraid to experiment to get the best shot that compliments your work as one. 4/. As an older photographer than me once said, there is never a bad time to snap a shot, so use your heart and your emotions to tell a story others can enjoy with you.
