Cool

Behind The Lens

Location
In Paris at "LePalais de Tokyo", my favorite place for doing fire photography.
Time
Obviously by night as most of my fire photography. By day, the flames hardly stands out like they do naturally by night.
Lighting
It was a two light set. A big octa with a grid on the left, a smaller source with a Fresnel lens to control the beam of light on the back. And obviously, the fire did play a part in the lighting. As I had to freeze the bank notes in the air, I paid attention to get a short flash duration on my strobes.
Equipment
As always, my trusty D750 with a 24 70mm f/2.8 One Godox AD600 pro and two AD200 combined together
Inspiration
Christmas was close, and I wanted to express the way I see it, in our XXIst century. As you surely understand, I really don't like Christmas…
Editing
Usual ACR to develop the shot, Photoshop for cleaning and for combining several takes to get more banknotes et snow.
In my camera bag
The same D750 and 24 70mm f/2.8 zoom lens. I've now switched to the D780. So far, very happy with this new camera.
Feedback
As always when fire is involved, you need a safety guy who knows everything about fire. My guy actually does it for a living. His name is Joe Guillian.
