Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Kelling Heath holiday park in Holt I took this photo when i was 9 years old in 2009

Time

Must of been early afternoon, it was part of a photography course

Lighting

Shaded light thanks to an overhang of trees that helped shield away the harsh summer light

Equipment

This was taken on a very simple Fujifilm Finepix (the specific model is a mystery i was 9 and was just so happy i had a camera of my own)

Inspiration

I was surrounded by adults on a photography course during a family holiday, i was 9 and therefore not as experienced or knowledgeable as the adults The owl was flapping around and was really really high up so the angles i was previously getting were shocking but it got tired and went to the ground and i captured this photo

Editing

No post production, i was 9 and i was just excited to have a camera in my hands

In my camera bag

Normally as an adult now i have my camera a couple of lens, telephoto and standard with UV filters (they are a must!) Tripod and reflectors and diffusers and my lens cleaning kit. I also have my mini polaroid as well or a 35mm camera as well if i want to try a different aesthetic

Feedback

Patience is key for any photo but specifically when you want to photograph animals, this particular shot was a whole lot of luck but keep your eye on the subject, follow its movements, balance your shutter speed and your aperture but with this day and age photoshop and exposure editing is a life saver, keep your hand steady and try to maintain a faster shutter speed (free hand or tripod but tripod limits your movements)
