First snow is always beautiful and when it's Yosemite... it's amazing. This year, the fall was delayed but the winter arrived in time, so the yellow-brown leaves were greeted by the fresh white cold powder making the scene absolutely different and mesmerizing.
Little story behind this shot:
This was a unique morning. The forecast was a overcast sky though out the day. We reached the valley around 30 mins before sunrise, after a 3 hour drive. It was still dark and we halted just waiting for the day break. All of a sudden, we saw colors showing up in the sky. Then what .. off we go ... on the snowy, slippery road. We just managed to get there and I could capture just 2 sets of 5bracketed shots, with my hands shivering in cold since the temperature was below freezing point. Within 3 or 4 mins the colors were totally gone. I though I didn't get it right, since I didn't have the time to take the remote out from the bag. I was partially right ... few of them had shake from my hand during the click. Had to create HDR from the remaining 4 good ones.
Moral of the story : When on a mission, do not sit idle anywhere. You never know when an opportunity would walk your way.
