I took this in Milford Sound, New Zealand.Time
This was very early in the morning, perfect golden hour window, we had to get in early for parking and our boat tour.Lighting
In all reality I didn't think anything of the shot, I think I took the shot to test my lighting but I actually didn't have the image in my eyes until after I uploaded it and saw how perfect it was, the lighting was great, the peak in white reflected this lovely yellow tinge.Equipment
This was with a canon 5D Mark IV, and a canon 100-400mm lens.Inspiration
I was honestly just testing my camera at that moment, I didn't really see the shot as it was. I was about to do a tour with one of their boats so wanted to be sure I can catch any wildlife quickly, I shoot everything in manual. This shot was what I first saw out of the parking lot before the boat tours, I usually hate taking photo's in tourist spots, things people have photographed 100 times, but this just worked out. In the end, having that somewhat tropical rainforest, water, and snowy mountain peak in one photo is really unusual and amazing, so unique to New Zealand, and I wanted to show that.Editing
Honestly, little, slight colour corrections, contrast edits and exposure, I didn't want to change much and keep it natural. In my camera bag
Honestly, I take everything with me which is an issue, telephoto lens, tripod, ND filters, macro lens, all round lens, wide angle... I wish I could just stick to one but everytime I do I always miss the right lens for the shot.Feedback
Honestly, just because it's a tourist spot for photo's doesn't mean you can't capture something unique, maybe just turn around and take a photo at the next best thing, the next peak, don't tunnel vision yourself to what everyone else sees.
