Taken at golden hour as the sun was setting.Lighting
This is all natural light taken at the golden hour. You can see the sun is low that creates a flattering shadow that is almost horizontal to the horizon. The light at that time of day also gives a warm hue which reflects well on dark skin. Timing to get a low tide to coincide with golden hour (along with having to be a weekend where the rest of the team is available) was probably the hardest thing as it occurs only once or twice a month.Equipment

This is part of a fashion editorial for a magazine. I loved a contrast using darker skin with golden makeup and sky. Kayio (the model) also had was tall and slender and along with the long dress she wore I wanted an emotive image and movement.Editing
Yes, only the sky was turned slightly teal from deep blue. It felt to me slightly edgy and higher end.In my camera bag
My Nikon D750, a handheld 80cm foldable reflector, spare battery and memory card. Some snacks and oh, a wireless speaker for some grooves during shoots. Thats it. Obviously it depends what is being shot and at what lighting. For this shoot, I knew we won't be needing a flash.Feedback
Timing is crucial. make sure you look at the tide times, and the time for sunset. Ask the model to act out or think of something rather that just look into the camera. Get them moving and really feel the moment with the environment or the clothing. I think this way you can (most of the time actually) capture something really timeless in that specific moment.
