-about the shot-
I took this shot during an autumn hiking at Rolle Pass.
In this season the colors blend perfectly with stormy skies, I love the three-dimensionality that these climatic conditions create with the shapes of the mountains.

-about the place-
Its altitude, natural environment and top-notch skiing facilities ensure that Passo Rolle is one of the most popular skiing destinations, also because of its excellent links with the major skiing resorts in the area, such as San Martino di Castrozza, just 9 km away.
Set in incomparable surroundings overlooked by the the Cimon della Pala and Cima Vezzana peaks, Passo Rolle straddles the mountain pass in a unique position. Thanks to its amenities, it has become the ideal base for discovering some of the most unforgettable corners of the entire Alpine chain.
There are loads of tours and itineraries to choose from, by snow-shoes or skis, from Vanoi to Lake Calaita (for beginners), or further on to Tognola (which can be tiring at times, yet definitely worthy).
But skiing and hiking can build up an appetite, so Passo Rolle lays the table with mouth-watering local delicacies in delightful surroundings, such as the malghe (Alpine huts) Venegia and Venegiota.

Behind The Lens

Location

ho scattato questa foto durante un escursione sulle Dolomiti in Italia. Più precisamente questa catena montuosa si chiama "Pale of San Martino" nome ereditato dal paese adiacente.

Time

I was in the company of my girlfriend,we went up in the middle of the morning, we ate a snack at the refuge and in the afternoon I took it until the weather started to be too threatening and we decided to descend. It is not advisable to risk too much in the mountains, conditions can worsen and become dangerous very quickly.

Lighting

I love these conditions, usually a landscape photographer takes pictures only during the blue and gold hour because the light is conditioned by the sun. The beauty of the dark and stormy skies is that they have no time, they can happen for 10 minutes or for whole days!

Equipment

This photo is a pano of 4 vertical shots merged in post taken with my 16-35mm at 33mm, 2 stop ND graduated filter and of course my solid well leveled tripod.

Inspiration

I love the mountains and nature, these places above all and I also love these weather conditions, the contrasts, the dark skies.

Editing

Sure, that can never be missing, sometimes only serves to restore the raw grit that he had on camera at the time of shooting, sometimes it is used by the photographer to describe the emotion of that instant that only he lived and wants to convey to who will look at the photo. in this case I adjusted the lights, shadows and exposure locally to give the right three-dimensionality to the crazy shapes of these mountains

In my camera bag

It depends on the type of excursion I do. Each hiking has its difficulties, sometimes for example you have to bring the tent, mattresses to be able to sleep in the location and give up something, a single camera body, two lenses and a tripod. Certainly in my suitcase my 70-200, 24-70, 16-35, ND filters and my solid tripod never fail, then when I can be heavier I also carry drone, 2x multiplier, my 50mm prime that I love and maybe a second body.

Feedback

My advice always remains the same, shoot, shoot and shoot! never stop doing it, try different seasons, different weather conditions, our planet is wonderful and it is fascinating in all its conditions! Of course, let's always do it safely and above all in its respect, if we respect it we could immortalize it for a long time so beautiful
