Location
This photo is taken in Enkhuizen, Holland on a beautiful winters day.Time
It was about 1 PM.Lighting
The hard winter sun created a nice and sharp contrast on the old buildings.Equipment
I didn't use any equipment other then my wonderful little Lumix DMC-TZ100, a very nice compact camera.Inspiration
Enkhuizen is a small, very old city at the IJsselmeer with a great history. About 90 years ago Enkhuizen was a city at the sea coast but in 1932 the sea was closed up north and it became a great lake. I wanted to express this history in a photo of a very beautiful and typical part of Enkhuizen, called "de Bocht" (The Curve) The wonderful 16th century houses looked out over the dangerous sea, seeing the ships coming in. Now it's just a nice and safe place to live. The calm water represents the safe lake in contrast to the stormy Zuiderzee...Editing
I did some post-processing in Lightroom to enhance some details and light to the scene. In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand...Feedback
If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition. Try to find that "extra" that creates a story, a fantasy. And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you got home and opened your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I always crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!day when you can have a fresh look at them!
