Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in foggy forest in late autumn 2017.

Time

In some morning I was taking pictures of foggy forest after rain. When I was done and fog started to disappear, I was walking through the forest and looking for some interesting. Suddenly caught my eye colourful leaf on green moss. It was late morning, but still good diffused light. So, I tried to do several shots.

Lighting

Nothing special. This photo was taken in natural diffused light without flash or without special equipment. In my opinion natural light is the best.

Equipment

This was shot on Canon EOS 7D Mark I and old lens Canon EF 100mm f/2,8 macro. There was used a tripod also and cable remote control of course.

Inspiration

A first impulse was colour contrast between the leaf and green moss. I like also simple compositions and minimalistic pictures.

Editing

Sure. Whole post-processing was doing in Lightroom in short time. If I remember correctly, I did basic corrections as a exposure, contrast, white balancing etc. And then I desaturated green and little bit saturated yellow, orange and red colour. At last, I little bit sharpened that picture and export it to jpeg.

In my camera bag

Always I have in my bag EF 70-300mm and EF 17-40mm lens. This two are my favourite lenses. Other lenses I take according to the planned photo shoot. As a body I have now in my bag Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. Sometimes I use also spare body Canon EOS 7D, but not often. Because of I mostly often take a photo of landscape I have in my bag always polarisation and ND filters, also remote control and spare batteries. Of course, when is cold morning I have also a bottle with hot tea :-)

Feedback

Sometimes the most common things can make an interesting composition. Important is to have open eyes and nice light.
