Location
I took this photo at a farm in Collins, NY during peak sunflower season, this past August 2019 during a senior photo session. The farm is called Farm in Peace. The skies that night were epic, half stormy with the sun peeking through the clouds just before it set for the night.Time
This shot was taken near sunset, as we were leaving the farm. I caught a glimpse of the sun peeking through the clouds and knew I had to stay to capture the magnificence.Lighting
The day was overcast and cloudy, but just before sundown the sky opened up and the sun peeked through the clouds. I wanted the image to show what my idea of heaven looks like.Equipment
I had my Sony A7 on me, with my 24-70mm lens on. No flash was used.Inspiration
Sunflowers are such a unique flower, and they looked so absolutely perfect, the way they were all facing my direction in full bloom, with the epic skies behind them. This is my idea of what heaven should look like.Editing
The only post processing I did was enhance the tones, sharpening the sunflowers a bit and adding the sun flare to the sun. I added a bit of a purple overtone to the photo in LR to enhance the gray in the clouds.In my camera bag
I'm a Sony shooter. I always have my A7 body, and my 24-70mm lens, my 50mm 1.4, my 35mm 1.8 and my 70-210mm are my usual go-to lenses, although I do carry a few more in my bag. I also have an simple off camera flash that is always in my bag.Feedback
I typically like to shoot during golden hour or later in the day when the sun isn't so high in the sky, as harsh lighting can distract from the subject in the photos, create harsh shadows and cause a lot of sun glare. I also do a lot of traveling within my area to find picturesque spots to shoot.
