I took this photo near the dike in Venhuizen, Holland.Time
It was about 4 PM.Lighting
I was taking photos of some insects on a plant underneath some trees. The filtered light is great for macros, not to much highlights and no heavy shades.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ100, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a camera...The best thing about this camera is that it has a good Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket.Inspiration
I was taking photos of a couple of insects crawling around some plants and after some time one of them was quite interested in my lens. It was the perfect moment to take a nice intimate photo of our encounter, a good end of an hour spend!Editing
I did any post-processing with Lightroom I enhanced the accents a bit, removed some "noise" and I cropped the photo to the size and composition I liked most.In my camera bag
I don't have a bag of equipment at all, only my Lumix DMC-TZ100, a wonderful intelligent automatic pocketcamera wich practically fits in my backpocket. It shows that you do not have to use expensive and big cameras to achieve nice results...Feedback
Take the time and effort to look around you and be surprised to find that one can take a nice photo in almost every square foot anywhere! Capturing wonderful shots is a matter of trying to look through a pinhole without forgetting the whole picture... Look around you and see that everywhere beauty can be found if you are willing to see it! Make sure all the surrounding details like grass and other flowers are gone, to achieve maximum focus on the details you want to show... Don't try to run around you garden, following one insect but choose a good point for a nice photo with a good background and good light. Try to find a comfortable pose and wait until one of the insects comes close to your chosen viewpoint. Then you will find the biggest chance to take a nice photo! In creating a nice macro of an insect it's important to take the insect from the side or the front and as low as possible! If you take this photo from a higher point of view, you loose contact with your subject. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you get home and open your laptop when the magic of today's digital world begins... I always crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop and edit the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
