Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Olten, a small town in Switzerland

Time

The photo was made on 2018 October the 6th at about 16:00

Lighting

The only source of light was natural light. For an October day it was a relatively warm evening. The lighting conditions were not outstanding but we do always our best for great pictures :-)

Equipment

For this shot I used my Nikon D850 in combination with the fantastic Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens.

Inspiration

For this shoot we had a lot of time so we could try something diffrent. I had the idea to take some photos of the model kneeling in front of this concrete wall.

Editing

Always more or less! After selecting the photos to edit, I choose the color look for each set, then I correct, if necessary, the light of the picture. Then the picture is cropped if necessary and that's it. In this case I changed the models blonde hair to silver gray to have a affinity to the grey concrete wall behind her.

In my camera bag

For portrait shootings I usually use my full format Camera with a set of (relatively) fast primes: A 50mm, a 85mm, the magnificent Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art Zoom and sometimes the 70-200mm f2.8.

Feedback

Have a good idea find a relaxed model in a good mood you have nearly everything you need. Then choose your shooting location and watch the light during the shoot. A camera with manual control (but don't forget: the best camera is the one you have with you) and then go for it. And yes, don't forget to do some the post-processing ;-)
