Behind The Lens

Location

Congratulations!!! As he is also a PR expert - this photo was created during the formation of a new image of one of the tourist cafes in the city of Dragobych (Ukraine). The author of the photo is myself, who did as part of his own creative project Studio YarekPhoto

Time

It was a photo shoot directly at the cafe. The shooting lasted all day, so this shot was created in the late evening.

Lighting

This frame was made using forced lighting. As I am a fan of working with constant light, so at this point I used a set of constant lighting. In particular, this frame is made with the help of octabox.

Equipment

In this case, I used a full-frame camera brand Canon 5D MK2. Canon lens ef 28-105mm F /3. 5-4 ? 5. The frame was taken without a tripod. As a soft light source octabox 90cm with a lamp temperature of 5500K

Inspiration

Inspired by the creation of this photo is a legend of a historical character in honor of which is called a cafe. Mr. Martin lived in the historic period - the beginning of the 20th century. Therefore, the photo tried to stylistically approach this era as much as possible.

Editing

To achieve a promotional character and feel the right era used the following adjustments in the post-processing process: first added to the shadows a grayish-blue hue, further emphasized the saturation of the central dish.

In my camera bag

The set of my bag varies from expected tasks. Of course, the camera is the same. Optics pick up depending on future scenes. In making this photo, I was expecting studio stationary shooting in a relatively small room, so I took a wide-angle lens with as much light-power as possible, as well as a set of constant light for work in the studio and with the subject.

Feedback

If you are tasked to create a photo with food items, be sure to specify the style and genre of the customer, as well as for what needs the next photo. Personally, I prefer the constant light because it gives you the opportunity to work on some of the color features of the subject and the depth of the frame during the photo shoot. Most likely, without post processing you can not do. Therefore, in the process of photographing, immediately fix the weaknesses of the color gamut, which will have to be strengthened, because the peculiarity of the dishes is that when they are taken, they look less appetizing than necessary in the end. I hope my experience will be useful to you.
