We were on Vacation near Durango CO in late May. We were heading up the mountain to Silverton for a backcoutry tour. Well surprise! snow! our tour was cancled. However, we did get to ride the train back down the mountain as planned. while waiting for the train we discovered that a week before memorial day there is very little to do in Silverton. The snow was beautiful but all tours and most shops were closed. The small local diner was open and really warm as were all the people we met in Silverton. this was takedn on the way up the mountain.
