Location
I took this photo ashore Thames River, near the Tower Bridge in London.Time
It was shot after sunset at blue hour, 10:31pm, in August of 2019.Lighting
Since it is a landscape, I only used natural light, which was very dim at that hour of day, so I had to use a tripod. I shot 3 raw pictures and combined them later on special software (hdr technique) so as to have details on the highlights as well as on the shadow areas of the scene.Equipment
I used my Nikon D750 to create this image in combination with my Nikkor 24-120 f4 lense @ 24mm. I mounted it on my tripod and used a remote release cable too.Inspiration
I love creating night hdr images and I also love architecture, and this scene had them both. I also liked the semantic contrast of the London Tower and the modern scyscrapers.Editing
I always shoot raw so I have to develop my files in Lightroom. I usually reduce the highlights and increase the shadows, contrast, sharpness, saturation and vibration. In this hdr image I first had to combine 3 photos in 1, so as to have bigger dynamic range. In my camera bag
I have my Nikon D750 and two Nikkor lenses, the 24-120 f4 and the 50 f1.8. I also usually carry an external flash and a declanser, if I plan to take pictures at night.Feedback
You should be careful as to where to put your tripod so as it doesn't slip into the water or get hit by passersby!
